An added benefit came from the hinged stove idea.  The space below, once some decking was put over the drawer, was rather large and provided a convenient place to put pans and cooking utensils when you’d rather they were not on the stove – more working room.  Between that platform and the hull became a place to store large flat items like a cutting board or a griddle.
